Josie Pickens (she/her) is a Houston-based organizer, educator, journalist, and cultural critic whose work explores race, gender, and sexuality. Her writing has appeared in *Ebony, Essence, Bitch, The Root, Cassius, Mic,* and more. With over 20 years of community organizing experience, she focuses on abolishing the prison industrial complex and family policing system while building mutual aid networks. She currently serves as the director of the upEND Movement.
